The Strip

If you have a heart for entertainment and never-ending nightlife, this is the community for you. The Strip runs through the middle of Las Vegas, and nearby, you’ll find some of the area’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods. As the “Entertainment Capital of the World,” there is no shortage of excitement here, and the Strip is known as a major tourist destination.

Sports lovers will feel right at home with the nearby T-Mobile Arena hosting the Vegas Golden Knights out on the ice. Football fans can rave for the Raiders at Allegiant Stadium, while the Vegas Rollers of World TeamTennis play at Orleans Arena. Las Vegas is also home to the NBA’s Summer League.

With top-notch hotels, casinos galore, fine dining spots, and designer shopping areas, entertainment and amenities are the name of the game. This is a great spot to live if you want to be close to all of the action. Keep in mind that it’s a fairly crowded area, and the cost of living tends to be high.

Downtown Summerlin

Downtown Summerlin is a thriving, luxurious urban community with an assortment of sports fields, parks, and gorgeous properties. The community is home to the Las Vegas Ballpark, where the MLB’s Las Vegas Aviators hit the field for their home games, and the City National Arena, the practice facility for the Vegas Golden Knights hockey team.

Within Summerlin, you’ll find over 125 stores and several world-class dining options. Special events are held regularly on the outdoor lawn and on Park Center Drive. This district is often recognized as one of the best places to live in the entire state of Nevada. It’s a popular neighborhood for singles and young professionals. You’ll find gorgeous walking trails, beautiful landscaping, and several premium retirement communities in the area. Plus, golf is a major draw to the community, with the Tournament Players Club and Jack Nicklaus Bear’s Best golf course nearby.

Lone Mountain

Travel a little further northwest, and you’ll reach Lone Mountain. Lone Mountain itself is a part of the Red Rock National Conservation Area, and you can enjoy stunning views of the desert from the peak. The area offers a more suburban feel than you’ll experience in the Strip or Downtown Summerlin. That said, there’s still plenty to do, and many singles enjoy living in Lone Mountain because of the opportunity to meet people. Plus, the amenities of Summerlin and the Strip are just a short drive away.

Anthem is located south of the Strip, but you can drive there in only a few minutes. The master-planned Del Webb community is especially popular with retirees. Businesses and stores are popping up quickly in the area, and many families choose Anthem because of the great schools and the spacious parks. One of the crown jewels of the Anthem area is Rio Secco Golf Club, which was recently upgraded with entirely new greens and an expanded practice facility. You can see why many people quickly mention Anthem when asked about the best area in Las Vegas to live.

If you travel north of town, you’ll find Green Valley, a master-planned luxury community where construction first began in 1978. This suburban community in Henderson is a popular choice for families and retirees, as there are plenty of parks, like Discovery Park, Paseo Verde Park, Mountain View Park, and Camelback Ridge Avenue Park, to enjoy the fantastic weather. Plus, the community is home to the Legacy Golf Club and the Dollar Loan Center, where the Henderson Silver Knights play their home games.

Also, the Henderson Multigenerational Center and Aquatic Complex hosts an array of concerts and festivals here. Shopping sprees are seamless at the District at Green Valley Ranch, an open-air shopping center with an assortment of designer boutiques. Residents also enjoy an easy commute to the amenities and entertainment spots of the Strip.

The incredible 555 acres of this gorgeous club community invoke feelings of luxury and prestige, with stunning views of Red Rock Canyon and the city skyline as a backdrop. Golf is a major attraction for the community, with The Summit Golf Club and its private, members-only Tom Fazio-designed golf course. The area is also home to numerous trails, welcoming those who enjoy an active lifestyle. The Summit community is only a few miles from Summerlin, where residents enjoy cheering on the Aviators at the Las Vegas Ballpark and watching the Vegas Golden Knights practice for the upcoming season at City National Arena.

As another prestigious Henderson community, MacDonald Highlands is a gated and growing paradise with a picturesque landscape and plenty of nearby amenities. Just 15 miles from the Strip, residents have first-rate shopping and dining right at their fingertips. Plus, this sports-centered community can cheer on the Henderson Silver Knights as they practice at Lifeguard Arena or play their home games at the Dollar Loan Center. MacDonald Highlands also boasts incredible outdoor adventure spots, with easy access to Bootleg Canyon and Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area.

North of Summerlin, you’ll find a variety of home styles in Centennial Hills, including condos and townhomes, in addition to plenty of single-family homes. New builds are common in the area, and many boast seamless transitions between their indoor and outdoor living spaces and greater energy efficiency. It’s an excellent spot for families, thanks in part to the Centennial Hills Library and nearby Floyd Lamb Park. Plus, residents can easily access great casinos like Aliante Casino. The area is quickly growing, and businesses and retailers are taking notice and beginning to set up shop in the area. It’s not the closest neighborhood to the Strip, but you can still drive there in around 25 minutes. Also nearby is Mount Charleston, where you can find a reprieve from the regular Las Vegas heat waves and enjoy cooler temperatures while hitting the slopes for skiing or snowboarding.

An oasis of luxury, Southern Highlands is centered around the Southern Highlands Golf Club, a private 18-hole championship golf course that is frequently recognized as one of the top courses in the entire state. It was originally designed by Trent Jones and his son, and it is well-known for the par-four 16th hole and the par-five 18th hole. Both have split fairways and force players to decide between a more straightforward approach or a potentially lower score. The club limits membership to 360 individuals at a time, so access comes at a high premium. As for the town itself, many residents compare the atmosphere to the feeling of being in a small town, even though you can quickly drive back down to the Strip. The community boasts six parks, perfect for spending time with family.

The prestigious community of The Ridges is 793 acres of magnificent estates with incredible vistas of Las Vegas Valley. Residents enjoy an active way of life, with many parks in nearby Summerlin to explore. Plus, the gorgeous Red Rock Canyon is only a short and scenic drive away. Many properties in The Ridges border the Bear’s Best Las Vegas Golf Course and Club Ridges, a state-of-the-art clubhouse with a fitness center, lighted tennis courts, and a heated swimming pool.
